- Dr. Steven
J. Shapiro, Ph.D., Managing Partner, Analytic
Resources, LLC.
Dr. Shapiro is Chair of the Department of Economics and
Finance at the University of New Haven. He teaches
undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, finance,
public policy, and econometrics. His previous
professional experience includes New York Telephone and the
Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
While employed with various consulting organizations, Dr.
Shapiro provided support to clients in the public and private
sectors. He received his B.A. in Economics from the
University of Virginia and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics
from Georgetown University.
Dr. Shapiro has appeared 25 times in arbitrations and other
alternative dispute resolution settings, as well as state and
federal court. He has given deposition testimony over 50
times. Within the litigation setting, he has calculated
damages in personal injury, wrongful death, employment,
antitrust, intellectual property and divorce cases. On
several consulting assignments, Dr. Shapiro has valued
employee stock options. Dr. Shapiro was the Project
Director on a technical audit of methodologies used by a local
telephone company to forecast revenues and demand. He
has also developed statistical analyses that were designed to
detect patterns of discrimination.
Dr. Shapiro is co-author of a sports finance textbook that is
currently in press. He has also published in referred
journals and regularly makes presentations at professional
association meetings. Dr. Shapiro is co-editor of Litigation
Economics Review, which is published by the National
Association of Forensic Economics.

- Gil Fried,
M.A., J.D., D.A.B.F.E., President, Gil Fried and Associates.
Professor Fried is an Associate Professor at the
University of New Haven and coordinates the graduate programs
in Management of Sports Industries. He is also Of
Counsel with a major Connecticut law firm and actively
represents his clients, which include various sport
associations, facilities, and insurance providers.
Professor Fried received his B.S. in Business Administration
from California State University, Sacramento and his Masters
in Sport Management and Juris Doctors degrees were both
received from the Ohio State University.
Professor Fried teaches sports law, business law, facility
management, and sports finance. He has an international
reputation in sports law and finance with three text books,
almost 20 peer review journal articles, and over 130 articles
in such publications as: Athletic Business, Facility
Manager, From the Gym to the Jury, Media Sports Business,
Athletic Administration, and other publications. He
has also made over 40 presentations at professional
conferences and 20 academic presentations.
Professor Fried has been an expert witness since 1992.
He has been involved in mediations, arbitrations, and
trials. He has also been involved in numerous
depositions, including phone and video taped depositions for
cases in other states. His work has not just been on the
expert side, but has provided a wide range of litigation
consultation including preparing discovery plans and
settlement plans. He has provided insight in both
liability analysis and economic/financial analysis for sport
cases. He has also provided consulting services in such
areas as economic analysis, marketing surveys, and database
analysis of income and other variables. He is Board
Certified Forensic Examiner and holds appointment in numerous
other industry organizations and committees. His
testimony has been highlighted in the media, including The
New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Daily Journal,
Houston Chronicle, Texas Lawyer, The Plain Dealer, The Sun-Sentinel, The Dallas Morning News, AP Wire Service,
CBS National Radio News, and the National Law Journal.
