Dr.
Steven J. Shapiro, Managing Partner,
is Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance at the
University of New Haven, where he has been affiliated for
over a decade. He is an Associate Professor of Economics
and Finance, and currently teaches undergraduate and
graduate courses in economics, finance, public policy, and
econometrics. His previous professional experience
includes New York Telephone and the Antitrust Division of
the U.S. Department of Justice. While employed with
various consulting organizations, he provided research
support to clients in the public sector and private
sectors. During Dr. Shapiro's professional career, he has
conducted analyses of public policy, developed econometric
models, organized statistical investigations, prepared
financial and economic analyses of markets and industries,
and produced regional economic forecasts. Dr. Shapiro
received his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from the
University of Virginia and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics
from Georgetown University.
Dr.
Shapiro is experienced in providing expert testimony and
litigation support in arbitration proceedings and state
and federal court. His expertise includes calculation of
damages in personal injury, wrongful death, employment
termination, antitrust, and trademark and patent
infringement matters. Dr. Shapiro recently managed a
technical audit of the methodologies used by a local
telephone company to forecast revenues and demand. In
addition, he directed a statistical analysis designed to
determine whether there was evidence of patterns of age
discrimination by an employer. His present projects
include financial valuations and litigation matters.

Dr.
Matthew L. O'Connor, Senior Consultant,
is an Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University, where
he teaches undergraduate and graduate finance courses.
Prior to joining Quinnipiac University, he was an
Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of New
Haven. Dr. O'Connor is active in research that involves
application of option pricing models. His research
interests also include measurement of market volatility,
investments, and applied corporate finance. Previously he
was an instructor at Syracuse University.
His
previous professional experience includes serving as a
Treasury Analyst with the Rogers Corporation where he
developed a computer simulation model to forecast debt
covenant compliance. In addition, he negotiated
multimillion-dollar debt restructuring, divestiture, and
revolving credit arrangements. Dr. O'Connor also worked as
an Actuarial Analyst for Massachusetts Mutual Life
Insurance Co., where he established and managed a PC
Software Development Unit that designed financial, cost
allocation, and premium rating software for the Group Life
and Health Divisions.
Dr.
O'Connor earned his B.A. in Philosophy from the University
of Connecticut, graduating Magna Cum Laude and being
inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. He
earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of
Massachusetts and his Ph.D. in Finance from Syracuse
University.
